Why this is so important!

We believe that children need to be the focus, and we practice this in everything we do. We have built our entire program around the concept of Playful Learning. This teaching method is described as:

“Playful learning describes a learning context in which children learn content while playing freely (free play or self-directed play), with teacher guidance (guided play), or in a structured game. By harnessing children’s natural curiosity and their proclivities to experiment, explore, problem solve, and stay engaged in meaningful activities—especially when doing so with others—teachers maximize learning while individualizing learning goals.”

Expression

Whether this is through building blocks, painting, singing, reading or just sitting quietly playing, we allow kids to self-direct how they play and how they learn under the watchful eye of the teacher-a trained Early Childhood Professional. Sometimes children need to be shown how to make choices, engage in meaningful choices and interact with peers. The teacher is there to provide that support and ensure that each child experiences all the centers in the classroom throughout the week.

Socialization

Children are social beings and this is where we start. We encourage them to partner in their learning and work together in play.

PLAY

At LCC Preschool we use play to teach children how to learn and also explore what interests them. Children learn about God, Life and the world around them.

BUILD

You will find lots of things to build with at our preschool. This is because building is one of the best ways children learn.
